Continuing Education & Clinical Trainings
Evidence-based, attachment-focused trainings designed for clinicians working with trauma, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.
About the Trainings
Trainings are developed and led by Kathryn Dann, LISW, a Clinical Director with extensive experience in residential addiction treatment, dual diagnosis, and trauma-informed care.
Each training integrates:
Attachment theory
Neurobiology and nervous system regulation
EMDR-informed concepts
Real-world clinical application
The focus is simple:
help clinicians understand behavior more clearly — and leave with tools they can immediately use in session.
Course 01Understanding Behavior Through an Attachment & Neurobiological Lens
This training explores how early attachment experiences and nervous system patterns shape behavior across the lifespan. Clinicians will gain a deeper understanding of how these patterns show up in addiction, mental health, and relational dynamics.
Key Areas:
Attachment styles in clinical practice
Neurobiology of regulation and dysregulation
Behavior as adaptive survival strategy
Application to treatment planning and intervention
Best Fit For:
Social workers, counselors, and therapists working with trauma, substance use, and co-occurring disorders
Course 02Practical Tools Clinicians Can Use Immediately in Session
This highly practical training focuses on interventions clinicians can begin using right away. Emphasis is placed on in-the-moment regulation, grounding, and supporting client awareness during sessions.
Key Areas:
Nervous system regulation tools
Grounding and stabilization strategies
Increasing client insight in real time
Bridging insight to action
Outcome:
Clinicians leave with concrete tools they can implement the very next day.
Course 03Trauma & Its Impact on Mental Health
CE Hours: 2 hours
This training provides a clear and accessible understanding of how trauma impacts brain function, emotional regulation, and behavior. It bridges neuroscience with clinical practice to support more effective treatment approaches.
Key Areas:
Trauma and the brain
Emotional and behavioral responses to trauma
Long-term impact on mental health
Treatment considerations and clinical implications
Meet Your Instructor
Kathryn Dann, LISW
Kathryn Dann is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Clinical Director with extensive experience in residential addiction treatment and dual diagnosis care. Her work is rooted in an attachment-based, neuroscience-informed approach, with a strong focus on helping both clients and clinicians better understand the “why” behind behavior.
Kathryn is trained in EMDR and integrates principles of nervous system regulation, trauma processing, and relational patterns into both her clinical work and her trainings. She has worked closely with individuals navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and complex trauma, and brings that real-world experience directly into the learning environment.
Her teaching style is clear, practical, and grounded. She focuses on translating theory into tools clinicians can confidently use in session, while also deepening understanding of the underlying patterns driving client behavior.
Kathryn has developed and led continuing education trainings for behavioral health professionals, with an emphasis on attachment theory, neurobiology, and trauma-informed care. Her goal is to create trainings that feel both clinically meaningful and immediately useful — bridging insight with real-world application.
