EMDR Therapy to Help You Process What Still Feels Stuck

Call to discuss, today

A structured, evidence-based approach that helps your brain and nervous system resolve distressing experiences — so you can feel more regulated, present, and in control.

I provide EMDR therapy for adults in Willoughby and surrounding Northeast Ohio communities, including Mentor, Eastlake, and the greater Cleveland area.

Sessions are offered in-person and (if applicable) via telehealth.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and integrate distressing experiences.

When something overwhelming happens, the brain doesn’t always fully process it. Instead, it can stay “stored” in a way that keeps it feeling current — showing up as anxiety, reactivity, intrusive thoughts, or patterns that don’t make sense.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess these experiences so they no longer feel as intense or activating.

What Sets Trailhead Apart

How EMDR Works

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) to support the brain’s natural ability to process information.

Rather than repeatedly talking through painful experiences, EMDR allows your nervous system to do the work of integrating them — often leading to shifts that feel more natural and less forced.

Clients often notice:

  • Reduced emotional intensity around past experiences

  • Less reactivity in present-day situations

  • Shifts in long-held negative beliefs

  • A greater sense of calm and clarity

EMDR Can Help With:

  • Trauma and unresolved past experiences

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • Negative core beliefs (“I’m not enough,” “I’m not safe”)

  • Relationship patterns and attachment wounds

  • Addiction and relapse cycles

  • Performance anxiety and high-functioning overwhelm

EMDR May Be a Good Fit If:

  • You feel stuck in patterns you understand but can’t shift

  • You’ve tried traditional talk therapy but want something deeper

  • You notice strong emotional reactions that don’t seem proportional

  • You want to process experiences without reliving them over and over

My Approach to EMDR

EMDR is not a one-size-fits-all process. I integrate EMDR within an attachment-based and neuroscience-informed framework, meaning we focus not only on processing experiences, but also on building the internal capacity to tolerate and integrate change.

We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable. You won’t be pushed faster than your system is ready for.

The goal is not just symptom relief — but deeper, lasting shifts in how you experience yourself and your relationships.

Common Questions About EMDR

Q: Do I have to talk about everything in detail?

No. EMDR does not require you to go into extensive detail about painful experiences.

Q: Will this feel overwhelming?

The process is structured and paced carefully. We focus on safety and stabilization before any deeper work.

Q: Is EMDR only for trauma?

While it’s widely known for trauma, EMDR is also effective for anxiety, patterns, and negative beliefs that feel stuck.
